EUHC4CA/Google Survey: 59% Of Californians Want To Be Taxed For Single Payer

For Immediate Release – SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA

When Enact Universal Healthcare For California asked Californians if they would pay the State of California instead of health insurance companies in exchange for receiving single payer healthcare, 59% said “Yes.”¬†

Our survey is a direct response to previous surveys that did not ask specifically about a California single payer system, or did not explain that, in a single payer system, taxes simply replace health insurance payments and fees and do not place an added financial burden on the individual or state. Please note that our survey left it open as to what form these taxes would take. Ultimately, we wanted to ask the worst question possible for proponents, and it turns out that our blunt honesty has been rewarded.

The age ranges of 18-24, 25-34, and 35-44 overwhelmingly chose “Yes,” while 45-54, 55-64, and 65+ broke on the side of “No.”

Men slightly favored the taxes more then women, 51.3% to 48.7%.

The survey was run by Google Surveys on Nov. 10 – 12, 2018 and had 734 respondents. Margin of error: “Yes” +3.7%/-3.8%, “No” +3.4%/-3.3%
